The readings for the third Sunday of Easter show a change in the disciples after encountering the risen Lord. In the gospel Jesus impresses on his followers the purpose that he had in mind for the church: “feed my lambs and sheep”. Jesus asked Peter three times if he loved him and three times he told Peter to “feed my lambs”. Both of the readings this week show the tremendous spirit of hope, excitement and energy that resulted from Christ’s resurrection. Wherever the risen Jesus is, even in the midst of troubles, wonderful things happen. As followers of Jesus today, we are called to be life-givers. How can we rekindle the spirit of the first disciples? Where in our day-to-day life do we reflect the resurrection by showing love and concern for those around me? These are interesting questions to reflect on with your child about…. we can be followers of Christ in our everyday lives!
