News from the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,

We have lots happening at school over the next few weeks so I encourage you all to check the school calendar and facebook pages to keep up to date.

Term Two will be over in a flash, with teachers preparing to write reports for your child. As a teacher, I loved writing reports for my students, highlighting their successes and recognising areas of development for future learning. A huge amount of time goes into writing a report, with most teachers spending an average of 45 minutes to one hour per child putting together a comment that provides you with a snapshot of your child’s learning.  Most often, reports are written after hours, taking teachers away from their own families. So please, when reports are released to you on Friday 23rd June, I ask that you dedicate time to viewing your child’s report. Celebrate your child’s successes and consider the areas of development as opportunities for growth.

Staff Professional Development Day - Friday 6th June

On Friday, staff from both St Michael’s and St Gabriel’s Primary School will gather in our school hall to participate in a professional learning day hosted by Michael Ymer.

By working with Michael, our school is able to meet some of our Annual Improvement Plan outcomes by building expert teacher capacity in the area of Numeracy. We look forward to an exciting and hands on day of learning with Michael.

District Winter Sports

Today all of our Year 5/6 students are representing St Michael’s at the District Winter Sports round robin. Students will participate in Tee- Ball, Soccer, Football and Netball at various locations in Traralgon. Days like this cannot run without the support of parents, so I send a huge thank you to all parents and other helpers who have shown your support by coaching, umpiring or assisting today. We really appreciate you all.

Italian Week - 30 June to 4 July

This year, we will celebrate Italian Week in the last week of term. Students will have the opportunity to dress up and participate in a week full of Italian activities organised by Maestra Carla. Our Italian week dress up parade will be on Thursday 3rd July at 9am in the school yard. All parents and carers are welcome to come and watch. More information will be provided in the coming weeks, but here are some photos from last year's parade to help with some costume ideas.
