Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Yesterday the staff spent the day exploring collaborative cultures within their teams and then the school. It is certainly easier to have these sessions face to face rather than over a screen. It was a valuable day as we continued the work of our strategic plan.
A conversation point for staff has been how we can build connections with our parent community. For the students being able to have a settled morning routine with the teachers present to assist them, hear reading, ensure they are ready for the day have resulted in very settled classes ready to learn right from the first bell. We appreciate your support in getting your children here in time for this routine to be completed.
We also recognise that as parents you are missing the connection with teachers and knowing what your child’s classroom looks like. To this end, the leadership team has decided that each Friday morning all classrooms will be open for parents to come in and let your child show you around. This won’t be a time for talking to the teachers about issues or concerns about your child, these are best discussed at a mutually convenient time and need to be pre arranged.
Catholic Education Week starts next Friday 27th May with the theme "Go out into the world and spread the Good News to all creation". We will be celebrating it with a short liturgy at assembly that day. Parents are invited to join us at the assembly which starts at 1:45pm.
Entry will need to be via the hall and you will need to sign in using the vpass QR code. A small amount of seating will be provided at the rear of the hall for parents. Seating down the side of the hall and the first row at the back of the hall will be for teachers to supervise the children. Please help the school captains by refraining from talking amongst yourselves whilst assembly is running.
After assembly on the 27th May to celebrate Catholic Education Week, we will have an "Open Classroom Afternoon" where the parents are invited to visit the classrooms.
Kind regards
Jodie

This week we celebrate the fifth Sunday of Easter. In the gospel we revisit the events of the Last Supper, when Jesus explained to the disciples that he would soon be leaving. Jesus knew that the time had come for his earthly life to come to an end. At the last supper Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment, “to love one another as he had loved them.” Throughout His life, Jesus led by example with a life of service to all that crossed his path. He wanted to put right the things that were wrong in the lives of others, to love and care for everyone regardless of who they were. This commandment, “to love one another as he had loved them,” forms the grounding of our Christianity - this is our universal call. But, as we read in the stories of Jesus’ life, this love is so much more than a feeling. It is a call to action! Just as Jesus showed us how to be a servant, our service spreads out of our homes to the community. Our mission is to walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

Lowes uniform update:
Following the recent broadcasts regarding localised lockdowns throughout Shanghai, the COVID-19 outbreak continues to surge through Shanghai. There is no firm date at this stage of when the lockdown will conclude as the health experts will review the situation on weekly basis and decide whether it needs to be extended.
Airfreight movement is the most dramatically impacted with no flights into or out of Shanghai centre hub. This is likely to continue to be extended for the full length of the lockdown. At present, trucks from other cities cannot deliver cargo into Shanghai with the warehouse currently not permitted to receive airfreight shipments.
Sea freight services are also under limited operation. Port operations continue however, with huge delays and disruptions as the labour required to operate the port and customs department is significantly impacted by infections and isolation requirements. In addition to this, most shipping lines are now restricting Reefer and Hazardous bookings into Shanghai which might cause further congestions and delays.
Please note, whilst not all uniform garments will be impacted, please be prepared that we will have some delays across a number of items.
