Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
Did you know that there is a St Michael’s Primary School facebook page? Here you will find announcements about school events, photos of student work, photos of students and their achievements, special events such as camps, sports, and school closure day reminders.
This page is separate to the St Michael’s Parents and Friends group which you may also choose to follow for all news related to the Parents and Friends Group.
Enrolments
Foundation 2026 enrolments are coming in quickly. So far our numbers are looking great, with many families completing tours before they choose to enrol. For existing families, a reminder that if you have a Kindergarten child who will be in Foundation next year, please complete the enrolment form as soon as possible. Please do not leave this to the last moment as we do need to start considering numbers for 2026.
We are now also at capacity in Year 5/6 for 2025. Any enrolment enquiries are welcome to be added to our waiting list. All other year levels are filling up quickly. Due to limited spots, careful consideration must be given and we do this by adhering to the DOSCEL enrolment policy which can be located on the school website.
Car Seats for school aged children:
We often get asked at what age students should be sitting in booster seats? Even though your child may prefer not to be in a seat, legally there are guidelines that you should be following. The following advice has been taken from the Transport Victoria website and Child Road Safety Organisation.

Each week students from each class are awarded Student of the Week certificates. These children are nominated for the example they have been within the school based on the School Wide Expectation focus for that week. The weekly focus will be from Wednesday until Tuesday the following week. Awards will be given out at Assembly on Friday.
In Week 5 the School Wide Expectation focus is Honesty:
I always tell the truth.
I am honest when reflecting on my personal performance.
I take responsibility for my actions.

The setting of Sunday’s Gospel is the ‘Upper Room’, after Jesus had completed the dramatic washing of the disciples’ feet during the last supper. Jesus’ actions had shocked the disciples, and he shocked them again by warning them of Judas’ role in what is to come. After Judas has left, Jesus addresses the remaining eleven though they do not grasp fully what Jesus is saying.
There is an ending at hand but also a beginning. Their present friendship is about to be transformed forever into a new community, bound together by the same love that binds Father to Son. Jesus gives them a “New Commandment” of love. What is new is the model Jesus leaves them of selfless, sacrificial, forgiving love. A new standard of love that transcends legalisms and measurements.
This “New Commandment” calls for us to move on from our entrenched views and values. It is a call to pilgrimage which calls us to the holiness which is only available when we allow ourselves to take up the gift of becoming ever new. To say yes to Jesus “New Commandment” is to point your feet in a certain direction, toward full communion with God and neighbour.
2025 School Savings Bonus (SSB)
The School Savings Bonus is a State Government initiative designed to assist families with cost-of-living pressures. Under this funding, each eligible student is entitled to a $400 bonus for application towards activity levies and uniform purchases from approved supplier. Within our school, all CSEF applicants are eligible to receive this funding. All families who have a Centrelink Health Care Card and have not applied for CSEF in the past are encouraged to contact the school office and initiate an application this year.
